Kitten Yoga, Darwin

A week ago, I volunteered my camera at a kitten yoga event run by Save a Paw NT and Ground ‘n’ Flow at CASA de Blisk Garden & Cafe, partly to support a great local cause and partly to practise something I want to do more of, photographing animals.

I’ll say this, kittens are excellent practice.

They have zero interest in direction. They wander into frames uninvited and claim yoga mats as their own territory.

And honestly, that’s the best part.

It reminded me of what I love most about portrait lifestyle photography, the moments you can’t plan.
The genuine laugh. The quiet in-between. The look you didn’t realise anyone saw.

Animals are nothing but that.
Unscripted, unpredictable, completely themselves, every single second.

For a lot of Darwin families, a pet isn’t just a pet.
They’re part of your everyday. Your routines. Your memories.

And that deserves to exist somewhere more permanent than your camera roll.

If it’s something you’ve been thinking about, even just a little, you can reach out anytime, whether it’s just them, with you, or a mix of both.

In the meantime, thank you to Save a Paw NT and Ground ‘n’ Flow for a morning that reminded me exactly why I love this work.

“We would also love to give a very special thank you to Isabella for capturing our day so beautifully. Isabella very generously donated her time to come along and photograph the event for us, and that kindness means so much to a small rescue like ours. She has an incredible eye for capturing genuine moments; the tiny paws, the cuddles, the laughter, and all the little moments that made the day so special. Her work is truly stunning and we are so grateful she shared her talent with us. If you are ever looking for a photographer, we highly recommend checking out her page and supporting her amazing work.”
