The Custom Portrait Experience

This isn’t just about taking photos, it’s about creating artwork you’ll actually live with. Portraits that make you smile every time you pass them, that you’ll pull off the shelf and show to friends, or become an album your kids will reach for again and again.

Who It’s For

This experience is for anyone who wants portraits that truly reflect their life and story.

It might be a family capturing laughter, connection, and the moments that matter most.

It could be a couple celebrating love, whether new, decades deep, or somewhere in between, with images that feel authentic and personal.

Perhaps you’re a parent looking to preserve the tenderness and strength of everyday life, or a pet owner wanting to honour the bond you share with your dog, horse, or other cherished companion.

Even if you’re simply seeking portraits that feel true to who you are, this experience is created around you, your story, and the moments you want to remember.

The Experience

Step 1: Enquire & Consult Call

We begin with a friendly chat to understand your vision, answer any questions you may have, and ensure this experience is the perfect fit for you. If you decide to book, I’ll send through your session fee invoice and contract. We’ll also schedule your in-person planning appointment and set a date for your session.

Step 2: In-Person Planning Appointment

This is where your vision begins to take shape. I’ll come to your home to help select outfits from your wardrobe and finalise locations and timing. You’ll also get to see and feel sample print products, so you can imagine how your artwork will look in your home. Together, we’ll create a shot list tailored to the pieces you love most, planning every detail with the final artwork in mind. By the end of this appointment, you’ll have a clear idea of the artwork options, so ordering will feel effortless later.

Step 3: Your Photography Session

Relax and enjoy. All you need to do is have fun while I capture your story.

Step 4: In-Person Ordering Appointment

We’ll sit down together to view your images and design them into the artwork we envisioned. This is when you’ll make your selections and finalise payment for your chosen artwork. The images shown at this stage are unedited; once you’ve made your selections, your chosen images will be fully retouched and perfected before they’re sent to print.

Step 5: Final Delivery

Your artwork is finished to museum standards and personally delivered to your door (or carefully drop-shipped if interstate). This isn’t just a USB in a drawer; it’s heirloom-quality prints, albums, and boxes that become part of your legacy. Alongside your artwork, your matching digital files will be delivered in a private online gallery, ready to download and share.

FAQs

How do I book a session?

You start by sending an enquiry via my contact page. We’ll have a consult call to discuss your vision, and, if you’d like to move forward, I’ll send your session fee invoice and contract. Once paid and signed, your date is officially reserved.

When do I pay for the artwork?

Most clients make their selections and finalise payment at the Ordering Appointment (see Step 4 in the process). However, if you already know what you’d like, you’re welcome to begin payment or even pay in full at your Planning Appointment.

Do you offer digital files?

Absolutely. Every print product includes the matching high-resolution edited digital file. You’ll receive your digital files via a private online gallery, ready for download and sharing. Digital files can also be purchased on their own without any printed artwork.

What if I can’t pay all at once?

Interest free pre-session payment plans are available to help spread out the cost of your order before your session. Please note that at the Ordering Appointment, payment for your chosen artwork must be made in full, as post-session payment plans are not available. The session fee must still be paid in full to book.

How far in advance should I book?

I recommend booking as early as possible, especially for busy seasons (like during Christmas). Once your session fee is paid and contract signed, your date is secured.

Can I change outfits or locations after the planning appointment?

While we work hard in the planning appointment to nail down outfits, locations, and timing, I’m always open to small tweaks. Life changes, weather, or inspiration can strike. Just contact me early and we’ll figure it out together.

How long until I receive my artwork and files?

Delivery time depends on the products you choose, their production process and the shipping time. On average, printed artwork can take between 4-6 weeks and I aim to deliver your files as soon as possible.

How long does a session last?

Session length varies depending on what you’re after. Some sessions can be under 30 minutes while other sessions can be multiple hours.

What should I wear?

I’ll help you select outfits during your Planning Appointment, but generally we recommend coordinating colours and styles that reflect your personality and home environment.

What if it rains or there’s bad weather?

We always have a backup plan for weather, including rescheduling options.

How many images will I receive?

The number of images depends on your session and final artwork selection. We focus on quality over quantity and every image is curated with your chosen products in mind.

Do you offer an online proofing gallery?

Instead of an online proofing gallery with watermarked images, I guide you personally through your images at the Ordering Appointment and together we’ll design the artwork you love.
